FAQs

Amish Built Barns LLC

Have a question about our services? Amish Built Barns LLC has the answer. Check out these FAQs and contact us today for more information!

  • What type of warranty is offered by your Amish builders?

Our Amish builders provide warranties that cover craftsmanship defects. These warranties typically include issues such as leaky roofs or improperly installed windows and doors, which are clearly the result of faulty workmanship. We recommend documenting any issues upon delivery with photos or videos and notifying us promptly. We'll then arrange for repairs. However, normal wear and tear, such as paint chipping or door sagging, isn't covered. We pride ourselves on partnering with the finest Amish builders in the region, which is why warranty claims are extremely rare.
  • What is the recommended site prep for your structures?

For optimal site preparation, we recommend ensuring clear access from the road to the installation site, considering obstacles like trees and power lines. Choose a level location to ensure proper airflow and door operation. Our delivery typically involves using a specialized machine called a mule, which can handle most terrains accessible by a small car without 4x4 traction. It's advisable to have shims, pavers, or 4" blocks on hand for leveling. For the base, a concrete pad slightly larger than the structure is ideal. Alternatively, a crushed concrete pad is suitable. While direct ground contact is possible due to our treated lumber runners, it may lead to future leveling issues or floor rot.
  • Does Amish Built Barns move/remove sheds?

Amish Built Barns uses third-party contractors for deliveries. We can provide contact information for these services, but we don't control their pricing, availability, or schedules as they're independent entities. Regarding shed removal or relocation, we're not equipped to offer these services. While we've attempted such tasks in the past, the associated costs were prohibitively high for most customers.
  • Does the color affect my price?

We offer 12 standard color choices for roofs, trim, sides, and ends at no additional cost. However, selecting multiple colors may incur extra charges. Vinyl siding in darker shades also carries a price increase. In some cases, our builders can source custom colors from Sherwin Williams for an additional fee.
  • Do I need a permit?

Permit requirements vary by location, so it's essential to consult your local building department for specific regulations. Generally, if you plan to anchor the structure, install plumbing, or add hardwired electrical systems, it's likely to be classified as a permanent structure. This classification often impacts property valuation and taxes.
  • Can I pay for my order online?

Currently, we don't offer online payment options due to the high transaction fees imposed by payment processors. To make a payment, please visit our office located at: Amish Built Barns, 2305 M-139, Benton Harbor, MI 49022.
  • What types of payment do you accept?

  • How does your rent-to-own program work?

Our rent-to-own program offers financing plans starting at $103 per month, with ownership possible in as little as 24 months. We provide flexible terms of 24, 36, or 48 months. This program is designed as an alternative to mini-warehousing, allowing you to have your own storage facility without credit checks or long-term commitments. Payments can be made by check or money order. We advise notifying your bank before making large purchases to avoid payment holds and ensure swift order processing.
  • Can I pay off my rent to own my contract early?

Early payoff of your rent-to-own contract is absolutely permitted without any penalties. We offer flexible payment options including double payments, lump sums, or regular installments. Many customers opt for a substantial initial payment followed by smaller monthly installments, or minimal upfront payment with the remainder paid off during the next tax season.
  • Are there any restrictions to your free delivery?

For Amish Built Barns, we provide free delivery within a 50-mile radius of your nearest dealer. Our delivery team uses advanced equipment to place your building precisely where you want it, aiming to minimize yard damage. A clear, solid path to the installation site is required. American Steel products can be delivered nationwide without mileage restrictions. It's important to note that not all buildings qualify for free delivery, as we work with various Amish families with different terms. We recommend contacting our office staff to confirm delivery fees for your specific structure of interest.
